Currently, politicians and builders are given “time certain” (an appointed time to speak) at commissioner meetings. Meanwhile, citizens have to come early on a workday to sign up to speak, wait for the entire staff presentation and then wait to be called for their 3 minutes to address the Board. I propose citizens comments receive the same “time certain” treatment as politicians at one hour after the meeting starts. Also, I will move to have citizens with hardships or work schedules be allowed to email comments to the Commission to be entered into the discussion. We should not punish people for working, and we should not deliberately make it hard for citizens to participate in their county government.
